How does Infrared Technology work?
This Thermal Bond Repair process utilizes Infrared Technology to heat the asphalt in place to a temperature sufficient to allow hand scarification to take place. The heater is removed and the affected area is worked using additional new asphalt and rejuvenator and packed in place.

What happens to my old asphalt that is removed?
We remove very little to no asphalt. In some situations contaminated asphalt may have to be removed in order to get a better quality repair, however in most circumstances, none is removed and additional new asphalt is added.
Is Infrared repair cheaper?
Yes; when you consider that these repairs do not leave “cold joint” cracks that will fail prematurely with certainty. When a pothole or catch basin is repaired using a “cut & patch” method; 4 cracks are manufactured that guarantee a premature failure and a larger repair area the next time.
Is Infrared repair quicker?
Yes, most general repairs are done in less than an hour; because we don’t remove any asphalt either by the “cut & Patch” or “mill & fill” methods we don’t need to return to the site to replace the removed asphalt. Resulting in significantly less traffic disruption.
Is Infrared Technology environmentally friendly?
Yes, less equipment is used, no asphalt is removed, repairs are completed with a single site visit and smaller crew size all contribute to significantly “greener” alternative to traditional methods of asphalt repair.

Yes; to both workers and pedestrians along with the property and environment. This technology has been used effectively and efficiently for over 2 decades. The equipment is Canadian manufactured, patented, and all Dragon Road Works staff are trained in its use. We are COR certified contractor with provincial accreditation in both Alberta and British Columbia. We routinely work in potentially hazardous environments such as gas stations, bulk plants, and hydrocarbon process facilities.
